Artisan Embellishment Kit ~ Brag Book

Today’s Artisan Embellishment Kit creation was inspired by my new role as Grandma (5 months new)!  I originally wanted to create a brag book of sorts but as I started putting this together I realized it could be a book for just about anything…brag book, smash book, calendar book or just a pretty decoration! You decide how to use it!  For the purpose of this blog post I will just call it a brag book!

The first thing I will tell you about this book is that the front and back covers are actually made with the chipboard (cardboard) that comes in the Artisan Embellishment Kit!  I wanted to make sure that I used everything in the kit which included the packaging materials!  I actually cut out the chipboard with the scalloped square die on the big shot!  Worked beautifully!  I decided to make the inside pages of the brag book a similar color as the chipboard covers…so I chose to use Sahara Sand cardstock.  I simply cut out a few pieces of the shara sand cardstock using the same scalloped square die….I think I have about 8 pages in this book.

Now the fun part…decorating the book!  I began by cutting a piece of primrose petals cardstock about a 1/4 inch smaller than the scalloped cover. I embossed the primrose cardstock with the lacy barocade embossing folder….one of my favorite vintage style folders. On the lower part of the front cover, I used a bit of designer paper from the Tea for Two and This & That collections.  From the Artisan Embellishment kit I used the following:

  • A bit of white lacy trim tucked behind the designer paper
  • A pink rose
  • Antique brad (on the butterfly)
  • White “ribbon” like trim to hold the entire book together

Of course I had to add a few “tickets” to the front of the book using “That’s the Ticket” and the “Creative Elements” stamp sets.

Important note: All of the projects showcased in the Artisan Embellishment Kit series were created using only 1 kit!  A total of 11 projects were completed with just one kitwhich means there is still lots more to come in this series so make sure you stay tuned!
