Vintage Chalkboard Technique

The chalkboard technique seems to be one of my favorites lately!  I actually designed this card as a swap for our March demonstrator meeting….and I took first place!  Woo Hoo! 🙂 And, of course, I had to do a vintage style card using this technique…I just love how the lacy paper doilies, the ribbon and the chalkboard technique give this card that vintage look!

So let me give you a few tips on the “chalkboard” technique!  The best way to achieve this look is with white embossing powder and a heat gun. For this particular card, I actually stamped the sentiment in versa mark which is a clear, sticky substance used in heat embossing. Once my image is stamped in versa mark, then I can sprinkle the white embossing powder over the image.  The embossing powder sticks to the versa mark so any excess powder should be tapped off of the card….then, just use a heat gun to set the embossing powder.  Once the image is set, simply take a bit of white craft ink and randomly rub it on the black cardstock with a sponge dabber.  It‘s a very simple technique so give it a try!
